Compromises of the Constitution

Compromises of the Constitution

In year, 1787, the Great Compromise was brought about. Two different groups of people were put forth during the Constitutional Convention to create the new branches of government. The Virginia plan and The New Jersey plan led to this Great Compromise. They had two different houses, one based on population and elected by the people, and the other house being allowed two senators for the state legislators. The Great Compromise ended one of the biggest disagreements in history. Small states felt that everyone was equal, and if Congressional representation were based upon population they would be outvoted on everything. The larger states on the other hand felt that population should determine how many representatives they have, they were afraid the small states might outvote them, so they came to that conclusion. Without the Great Compromise we wouldn't have the Constitution or US government like we do today. This was a a big change in History, that changed voters and thinkers.

The Great Compromise

In 1787, they compromised over the northern states and the southern states during the Constitutional Convetion. The debate was over how slaves should be counted when you're comparing them to the population but more or less for constitutional reasoning. This was an important subject to go over it effected how many seats for the delegates, the percentage of taxes the state wouldn't have to bear. The two delegates who came across this matter went by the names of James Wilson, and Roger Sherman. The northern states did not want all slaves counted into their population, he thought it would take representation from the north. The south wanted the opposite they believed in counting all. If they counted the slaves as property it would give the south more political reasoning and just. The three fifths compromise ended in a result in which both sides agreed to count 3 out of 5 slaves for the state population and also for taxation. Representation in congress also occurred when this agreement was settled between the North and the South.

The Declaration of Independence: Twitter Fight

Via Twitter ;

 King George iii
King George III

@theREAL_kingGeorgeiii: The colonies separated from the British for many reasons, i have no idea why there was a list of abuses, blamed on me, they have no right to do that with no evidence....

Thomas Jefferson

@Thomasjefferson1743: King George has no idea what he is getting into. The written document makes it clear that Americans are not declaring independence. People continue to petition, you keep ignoring the petitions, your own fault!

@theREAL_kingGeorgeiii: A new Declaration?? So unnecessary..I don't agree, that's why ignored all the petitions. #mad

@Thomasjefferson1743: We made it for many reasons, it is inevitable, and necessary to have independence for people, you have no right to be saying that.

3 Grievances Towards the King

1) He has refused his assent to laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
2) He has forbidden his Governors to pass laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
3) He has refused to pass other laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of representation in the legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

@theREAL_kingGeorgeiii: All the blame goes toward me, what about the Parliament????

@Thomasjefferson1743: We can't complain about them, maybe if you would listen we could explain, the parliament has no power over America, that is all on you King!

@theREAL_kingGeorgeiii: The Olive Branch Petition is bogus. I refuse to even accept or sign any of that. I disagree with all this being written, I won't sign anything. I will react and accept the Proclamation Rebellion.

@Thomasjefferson1743: I don't get why King George iii won't just procure us relief from our afflicting fears, and all of our jealousies, it is only right....
